What’s the Difference Between Whey, Isolate, and Vegan Protein?
Finding the right protein for you can be overwhelming when there are so many options out there. We want to help you differentiate between the three main types of protein powders and decide which one will be the best option to help you achieve your goals.
Whey protein is one of the two proteins that is found in milk (the other is casein). It assists in muscle protein synthesis because of its high content of amino acids, especially leucine. Whey protein is considered to be one of the best types of protein because it is quickly absorbed by the body and it contains many active proteins that support the immune system.
Whey protein supplements contain approximately 70-80% protein, along with lactose and fat. Whey protein supplements can be consumed either in the morning, before your workout to stimulate protein synthesis, within 30 minutes after a workout to support muscle recovery and growth, or before bed.
Kaizen Naturals® Whey Protein contains 24 g of protein per scoop and comes in 9 delicious flavours.
Whey isolate is different from whey protein in a few ways. Whey isolate has a higher protein content (it is about 90% pure protein) and contains less cholesterol, carbohydrates, lactose, and fat (under 1% lactose content). It is ideal for people who have dietary restrictions, such as a lactose sensitivity or limited carbohydrate intake. Whey isolate is typically somewhat more expensive than whey concentrate because of the additional filtering it undergoes. Whey isolate supplements can be taken either pre- or post-workout, in the afternoon, or before bed.
Kaizen Naturals® Whey Isolate contains 25 g of protein per scoop and 5.7 g of naturally occurring BCAAs to build and repair muscles.
Vegan protein supplements are beneficial because they can help those who are vegan or vegetarian consume enough protein in their diets. Vegan protein comes from sources such as peas and rice, which are easy to digest. Many vegan proteins are also a source of fibre and contain digestive enzymes, and even though it is lower in calcium than whey, it is higher in iron.
Kaizen Naturals® Vegan Protein is made from five plant protein sources, including chia seeds and sprouted quinoa.
Kaizen Naturals® Whey, Isolate, and Vegan Protein are all made without artificial flavours, colours, or sweeteners and are NSF Contents Tested & Certified to ensure that what is on the label, is exactly what you’ll find in the bottle.
